Maurizio Sarri submitted his resignation letter to the club with immediate effect after a 1-2 defeat to Udinese on Monday’s Serie A stage football.

Lazio are currently ninth in Serie A with 40 points from 28 games. 11 points behind the top four and seven points clear of European qualifying after their crushing defeat to Udinese 1-2. Which was their 12th defeat this season. 

The loss to Udine in their last game caused further tensions. With both Sarri and the Rome Eagles being booed by fans as they left the pitch after the game.

According to reports, Sarri has decided to tender his resignation from the club with immediate effect. While club president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani have called the players to a meeting at the training ground to encourage them. The team turned the situation around in the final 10 games of the season. Including facing Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-finals next month.

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, meanwhile, has described Sarri as a “genius”.
