Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is keen on a move to Barcelona but the current situation makes signing a deal difficult.

Barcelona sporting director Anderson Deco has admitted signing Jonathan Tah will be “not easy”, despite the 28-year-old centre-back being available on a free transfer when his contract with Leverkusen expires this summer.

Barcelona had tried to sign Tah since last summer, with the Blaugrana eyeing the Germany international as a replacement for the potential departure of Ronald Araujo, but the Catalan giants were unable to reach an agreement with Leverkusen, with Bayern Munich also keen on bringing Tah in to bolster their defence.

However, Deco admitt that signing Tah are not easy as Barcelona already have a full complement of centre-backs in Araujo, Pau Gubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia, as well as Jules Kounde, who is currently playing at right-back.

‘There are many variables that we cannot control, but the idea is still there and we know what we want. The question is do we have four centre-backs? It would be difficult to bring one in, that’s the truth,’ Deco said.
